Mental Health Rights Coalition (MHRC)
The Mental Health Rights Coalition of Hamilton is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the participation and voice of consumers in the mental health system. It is an organization run by and for people with lived experience of mental health and/or addiction issues. Some volunteer opportunities available include being a Peer Support Worker. Alzheimer’s Society
At Alzheimer’s Society, volunteers play a critical role in supporting health promotion, advocacy, and support services for people with dementia, those at greatest risk of developing dementia and their care partners. Both virtual and in-person opportunities are available for those interested in making a contribution and having an impact on people’s lives. Some available roles include: volunteer visiting, education support, social recreation support, program support, office support, and event support. Recreation Division Volunteers
The City of Hamilton’s Recreation division offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, 13 years and older, who would like hands-on experience supporting swimming lessons, dryland registered programs, camps, and program logistics to work towards future employment. Macassa & Wentworth Lodges Volunteers
Macassa & Wentworth are long-term care facilities for citizens who are unable to live on their own. They provide 24 hour nursing supervision with input from an interdisciplinary team which includes medical, nursing, social work, recreation, therapy, volunteers, pastoral care and nutrition.
