Donate Personal protective Equipment (PPE) & More

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a substantial demand for PPE in the healthcare setting. Hospitals are low in supply and are accepting donations for PPE that meet national standard. Hospital are also accepting donations for supply products such as baby monitors and food/drinks. If you would like to donate or supply some of the products mentioned, you can find more information at the page linked below.

Perform A self-Assessment

The Ontario Ministry of Health has developed a new tool to help people perform a self-assessment for COVID-19. Unless you are a experiencing an emergency, it is recommended to perform this self-assessment before seeking medical help. This is to help reduce further accidental spread of COVID-19. If you think you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has, you can complete the self-assessment at the page linked below.

Sex Worker Fund

A fund dedicated to providing support to sex workers in the Greater Toronto Area during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund prioritizes sex workers of low-income, migrant, sick, disbled, queer and trans/black and Indigenous Communities of Colour (QT/BPOC). “As precarious workers, sex workers are often barred from accessing basic labour rights and protections on the job. Many of us are experiencing loss of income due to appointment cancellations, a decreased demand for services, workplace closures, and sickness. Since sex industry jobs do not offer a salary, sick days, or benefits, there is little to no safety net when we are unable to work.”

Disability Justice Network Of Ontario

An online community dedicated to sharing and organizing community resources in response to COVID-19. The opportunities can range from a wide variety of tasks based on the current situation, and what the community needs. “The goal of this form is to organize the local community on the grassroots level to ensure vulnerable community members have access to food, housing, healthcare, and other necessities.”

Volunteer Tutoring Opportunity

 In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, many students will be struggling with making the transition to online learning and getting academic help from their homes. Additionally, some students may face financial barriers that may hinder their educational goals. If you would like to be a volunteer tutor for a student in need, please consider applying to this opportunity! Hours will be flexible to fit however much time you're willing to dedicate.

As preparation for these tasks, Professor Laurie Santos reveals misconceptions about happiness, annoying features of the mind that lead us to think the way we do, and the research that can help us change. You will ultimately be prepared to successfully incorporate a specific wellness activity into your life.
